In the past 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in obesity rates. It seems that when someone is overweight more attention is drawn to how they look. The focus should be on their health though. Being overweight affects a person’s basic health and quality of life. The more overweight someone is increases their chances of developing certain health problems.

If we look at obesity from a financial aspect, it has outpaced both smoking and alcohol as a medical cost. According to a report released by the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, health care costs for treating obesity-related illness are as high as $149 billion per year. According to the report the problem is only getting worse. From 2007 to 2009, 2.4 million more adults became overweight. This report doesn’t include all the children that are overweight.

What are some causes of weight gain? Specific nutrients are needed to allow optimal balance and improve our metabolism. If there is an imbalance of hormones and nutrients, gaining weight can occur. We are surrounded by a variety of toxins. We are exposed to chemicals, pesticides, water contaminants, food preservatives, heavy metals, and electromagnetic radiation. All of these deter the normal uptake and utilization of nutrients, carbohydrates and proteins. Toxins accumulate in the bowel and liver which do not allow stubborn fat to be released. Once toxins have accumulated within the bowel they prevent the normal absorption of nutrients necessary for hormonal activation and metabolizing sugar, fat and protein.

What is a good balance of our pH? Optimally our tissue pH should be around 7.4 (alkaline). If our pH drops and becomes more acidic this leads to a drop in how efficient the chemical and electrical functions are in the body. The result of having our levels being more acidic is a low-energy state of inflammation with low oxygen uptake. This makes it very difficult to treat disease or excess weight.

Stress can play a part in one gaining weight. Cortisol, also known as the stress hormone, is secreted by the adrenal glands in a pattern. The levels may vary through out the day. Normally cortisol releases in higher levels in the early morning and lowest around midnight. Cortisol stimulates fat and carbohydrate metabolism for fast energy. It stimulates insulin release and maintains blood sugar levels. If this becomes unbalanced, cortisol secretion may not only promote weight gain, but it can also affect where you put on the weight.

Detoxification is a very important step in managing our weight. Cleansing decreases the body’s toxic burden, increases oxygenation, circulation and alkalinity to help reduce inflammation. This allows the liver and intestines to function without hindrance.

Everything within our body works together. We need to find ways to simplify our diet and simplify our daily routines for our optimal health and well being. There are so many different ideas and advertisements surrounding us within the realms of social media that our minds become weighed down with just where to start. Simplicity has always been the best; it makes it easier for a focus to be maintained. To be able to take one product that is cost effective, power packed, in a liquid form for quick absorption, and with a great taste to get you started in the right direction is as simple as it can be.
