Lace Front Wig Application – Professional Results In 5 Easy Steps

Lace Wigs are a great way to change your look, hairstyle and hair color quickly, easily and often without damaging your natural hair. You can have a different hairstyle everyday of the week if you choose.

Lace wigs look very natural when applied correctly and can be applied at home.

Many women choose to have their lace wigs applied by professionals because they fear they may destroy their hairpieces or damage their own hair if they attempt to apply it themselves.

This is somewhat understandable as lace wigs can be very costly depending on the type and style you have chosen.

However, lace front wig application is fairly simple and with a little practice you can be applying your wigs as good or better than the pros.

To apply your wig firmly to your head you will need to use either lace wig tape or lace wig glue.

Since lace wig glue provides a longer and stronger hold than tape, the instructions we provide are for lace front wig application utilizing glue.

Before starting your lace front wig application you should either wrap or braid your hair to provide a smooth surface for your wig to lay on. The flatter the surface the better.

Gather everything you will need before we begin. This includes hair clips or hair pins, alcohol, cotton balls or sponges, eyebrow pencil and your lace wig glue. You will need all these things for successful lace front wig application.

Step 1 – Clean your forehead with alcohol. This is necessary to remove the dirt and oil from your skin. The glue will have a much firmer hold on a clean surface.

Step 2 – Pin the hairs of the wig back so that they do not get stuck in the glue during the application process.

Step 3 – Trim the excess lace off the wig. Only cut off small amounts at a time as you do not want to ruin your wig. Also be sure not to cut off the baby hairs.

Step 4 – Try your lace wig on and work with it until you find the place where you would like your hairline to be. Your hairline should look natural. Once you decide on the spot for your hairline, use an eyebrow pencil to lightly outline the area.

Step 5 – Apply the glue to the hairline area. Once the glue dries to a sticky consistency, it is time to apply your wig. Use a tail comb to press the wig down into the glue.

If you would like a stronger hold, tie a silk scarf around the perimeter of your head while the glue is drying. This will secure your wig more firmly and provide a longer lasting hold.

Follow these five easy steps and achieve the professional results you desire at home.
